First and the foremost, one gets rid of the irritating apparatus on one’s face, which immediately undoes the aesthetic loss caused by its presence. In short, you look smarter than ever. That was one reason that comes first to anyone who thinks about the pros of the contacts, but it is not the only one by any means..
Andrew Stoddard, D Sandy, has sponsored bill to expand reasons why a police officer’s certification could be suspended or revoked. There’s also a bill by Sen. Daniel Thatcher, R West Valley City, requiring training and annual certification for law enforcement K 9s and their handlers.
It has actually long been cited as such by opponents of racism, and I be amazed if conservatives using this as an argument isn actually an attempt at a rhetorical reversal on their part. This appreciation of limits and boundaries also entails a methodological break from the idea of unconditional immersion. While, in further research, a high degree of immersion (and what is more, research subject generated content) will be sought, my starting point is one of learned distance, which combines the notion that (against a background of eclectically accumulated familiarising knowledge) every tiny detail found in the field can become a vital clue, with a radical de familiarisation and alienation that refuses to privilege any knowledge not even “indigenous” knowledge. To take the detective metaphor of the “clue” seriously, we will follow the abductive approach exemplified Arthur Conan Doyle in his Sherlock Holmes stories as interpreted by Seboek/Umiker Seboek (1988) in which the imaginative construction of possible connections and relations is the first step.
The goal of this thesis is to propose a cognitive approach to intertextuality. Intertextuality has attracted the attention of a number of literary scholars interested in discussing the interrelations between literary texts without, however, focusing on how readers create these connections. On the other hand, despite its reader oriented approach, cognitive poetics has largely neglected the concept. This project employs recent developments in the field of cognitive linguistics and cognitive psychology and proposes a multi layered approach to intertextuality in the light of the principles of cognitive poetics.
